Dear Friend in Christ,
At Agua Viva, our mission is to make disciples of Jesus through education, mentorship, and family strengthening. Every lesson taught, every prayer shared, and every conversation with a struggling student is made possible by the teachers and staff who faithfully serve our students each day.
In rural Guatemala, many private school teachers earn around $3,200 a year, forcing many below the poverty line. At Agua Viva we are fighting to live out our values in every area of our ministry including our teacher salaries. While our teachers currently earn a baseline salary of approximately $6,200 a year, we are working to bring our teachers up to a full Guatemalan minimum wage of $7,400 a year by 2029.
By achieving our $30,000 summer goal to “Fill the Well”, we will not only improve teacher salaries, but also welcome two key team members who will help us move our mission forward:
- A Discipleship Coordinator: to help disciple our staff and launch more mentorship and family strengthening programs.
- An Office Assistant: to help carry important administrative responsibilities, allowing our directors and coordinators to spend more time directly investing in students, families, and staff.
Here are a few ways you can partner in supporting a teacher or staff member this month:

Would you prayerfully consider helping us Fill the Well this summer?
Thank you for walking alongside us and helping make stories like Erick and Catherin’s possible. Because of faithful supporters, students are receiving not only an education, but also encouragement, guidance, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.
If you would like to help more students experience the same care and opportunity that Erick and Catherin have found, we invite you to learn more about our sponsorship program. Your support can help provide life-changing educational opportunities and point more young people toward a future filled with hope.
Thank you for continuing to stand with our staff, students, and families through your generosity and prayers.
With excitement for all God is doing,
Melissa (Misi) Schlax
