Why Am I Here?

God speaks to us through His Word in the ordinary moments of everyday life, and sometimes He uses extraordinary moments to capture our attention in a special way. At Agua Viva, this is why we read the Bible with our students every day and faithfully share the gospel in our classrooms each week.

Events like our annual middle and high school camp also provide a special opportunity to step away from the normal routine, deepen relationships, and encourage our students to consider some of life’s most important questions.

This year, more than 120 young men and women gathered around the theme “Why Am I Here?” It is a simple question, but one with profound implications. Throughout the two-day camp, we guided our students to God’s Word as they considered His purpose for their lives and were challenged to respond to Him personally and in faith.

During our time together, many students opened their hearts and shared personal struggles and difficult situations within their families. Some of their stories are painful, reminding us of the challenges many of our young people carry with them each day. But even in the midst of these difficulties, we are reminded that there is always hope in Christ.

Experiences like this strengthen our commitment to the mission God has given us. Our students need an excellent education that will prepare them for future opportunities, but they need something even greater. More than anything, they need to know Jesus Christ and discover the hope, purpose, and new life that are found in Him.

The camp certainly provided plenty of laughter, fun, fellowship, and wonderful memories. We pray that its impact will extend far beyond those two days. Students returned with hearts that were more open and receptive, and relationships between students and teachers grew stronger. Those relationships give our staff continuing opportunities to invest in our students, share biblical truth with them, and faithfully plant the seed of the gospel.

As you partner with Agua Viva, you help make this ministry possible. Your prayers and generosity allowed us not only to provide this special experience for more than 120 young people, but also to surround them with Christian teachers and mentors who continue to point them toward Christ day after day.

Please remember our students and staff as you spend time with God. Pray that the Lord will use the conversations begun at camp to deepen relationships, to open hearts to the gospel, and to draw students to the love and hope found in Jesus Christ.

Thank you for helping us answer one of life’s greatest questions by pointing the next generation to the One who gives our lives purpose.
