Seeking God’s Word
Fernanda, a bright and motivated student, completed her primary education in 2019 at the small public school in our community. As she looked ahead to middle school, one school stood out: Agua Viva. Through family and friends, Fernanda had heard that Agua Viva offered something truly unique—Bible classes. That was all the encouragement she needed. In 2020, she enrolled with excitement and hope.

But just a few months into the school year, the COVID-19 pandemic swept through Guatemala, bringing with it new challenges. Like many families, Fernanda faced the reality of distance education with limited resources. With only one technological device at home, she and her younger sister struggled to keep up with online classes. “It was difficult,” Fernanda recalls, “but the school lent us a tablet, and that made all the difference.” Thanks to that timely support, both girls were able to continue their studies.
What drew Fernanda to Agua Viva—her desire to understand the Bible—didn’t fade. In fact, it grew deeper. “Before, a lot of things in the Bible didn’t really click for me. But now, I understand many truths I didn’t before. Our teachers go deep, and that has impacted me.”
Now in her final year of the Early Childhood Education program, Fernanda’s passion for learning and helping others is stronger than ever. Inspired by her mother’s stories of how a social worker changed her life, Fernanda dreams of following the same path. She plans to begin working after graduation and to attend university on the weekends to study Social Work.

For the past three years, Fernanda has received a scholarship at Agua Viva due to her outstanding academic performance. This support has been a tremendous blessing to her family, easing their financial burden while allowing both daughters to continue their education
As Fernanda prepares to graduate, she looks back with gratitude—for her education, her opportunities, and the community that stood with her every step of the way.

Her story is a powerful reminder that behind every student’s journey are faithful prayers, open doors, and generous hearts. Fernanda’s desire to grow, serve, and lead is a reflection of the purpose that drives our mission.
We invite you to join us in praying for Fernanda, her family, and the many students who, like her, dream of transforming their communities. Your support can open the door for even more students to receive a Christ-centered education and grow in both faith and purpose.
