Beyond the Mud
Camp is one of the most anticipated activities for our students. This year was extra special—we were blessed to celebrate it for two full days and one night on our campus. And everyone knows… two days are always better than one!

Together with 80 middle and high school students, we shared delicious meals, exciting rally games, and energetic cheers for each team. Yet beyond the fun, our greatest desire is that students’ hearts would be both confronted and comforted by Jesus. The camp theme, “Beyond the Mud,” reminded us that in the midst of life’s struggles and trials, we have an almighty God who holds us firm on the Solid Rock: Jesus Christ.

Through plenary sessions and workshops prepared especially for this time, students learned about their identity in Christ, the importance of purity, and the wisdom needed to face life’s challenges. At the center of it all, the message of salvation was proclaimed—clearly and powerfully. Powerfully, because every repentant heart is a miracle that only the Gospel can accomplish.

Although each student experienced camp in their own unique way, some testimonies reflect with special clarity what God is doing among us. One young man, who came from a Christian family but had not yet made the faith his own, shared how God began to touch his heart through the times of teaching. His soul was longing for something more, and during the final plenary, God opened his eyes to see that his deepest need could only be satisfied in Jesus.

The very next weekend, he was already attending church with his family and had made the decision to give his life to God. In the afternoons, he has begun a discipleship program with one of our teachers. These small but powerful steps bring us great joy, because they reflect our mission to make disciples of Jesus. And he is not alone—a group of young women has also started a discipleship study in the afternoons.
