Dreams Take Root

Every Sunday, David would glance across the street from his church toward the Agua Viva campus. Something about the place stood out. It was a vibrant, well-tended space filled with life and possibility. The school was a stark contrast to his former community school, where resources were limited and opportunities scarce. At the time, David didn’t realize that God was already planting in his heart the desire to learn in a place where faith and education walk hand in hand.

Last year, David entered seventh grade at Agua Viva. Even before enrolling, he sensed that this was a place where he could build a better future—something his old school couldn’t offer. Sadly, many public schools in Guatemala lack the resources students need to thrive. Before coming to Agua Viva, David had just one teacher for all his subjects, which limited his learning since the instructor couldn’t specialize in each area. Lessons often consisted of brief summaries or worksheets, and when he needed help, it was rarely available. By the end of sixth grade, he realized how far behind he was.

Thanks to the perseverance of his parents—who had limited access to education—David and his siblings have been encouraged to dream beyond their circumstances. With their support, and through Agua Viva’s scholarship program, both David and his sister are now part of the Agua Viva family.

David loves exploring how things work. When he discovered Techno Faith, our robotics program, he immediately joined. In 2025, he competed in the national Lego robotics competition and now dreams of advancing even further next year. He also enjoys creating 8-bit-style art and designing games in Scratch. These passions are shaping his dream of becoming an engineer or programmer—and perhaps one day leading his own robotics team to compete internationally. Yet more than traveling, David’s greatest motivation is to help his parents financially, honoring the sacrifices they’ve made for him and his siblings.

At Agua Viva, David’s faith has also deepened. He recognizes that God is at the center of his life and in control of all things. He has come to understand Gospel truths that once seemed distant. Now, he desires to grow in God’s Word and to be ready to share his faith with those who question it. David knows that the Bible is where we find all that Jesus taught us—and he wants to live this truth daily.

We thank God for allowing Agua Viva to be a place where students like David can discover their gifts, strengthen their faith, and dream of a future filled with purpose. At Agua Viva, we believe that to educate is also to disciple—to walk alongside each student so they may know Jesus, grow in His Word, and learn to serve others with love.

God is using you to accomplish this mission, and we deeply appreciate your prayers and support. Thank you for walking with us and for being part of what Christ is doing through Agua Viva!
